Corky Sysun posted an even quota to capture first place at Wednesday’s Crumpin-Fox Club’s Ladies League in Bernardston.

Julie Schonbrun was second behind Sysun. Terry Boyce earned closest to the pin honors on No. 9, landing her approach to 5 feet, 6 inches.

CFC men’s champ

It took two extra holes to determine this year’s CFC Men’s Club Championship, but Tim Rice captured the time spot with a three-round total of 78-84-75—238.

Rice beat runner-up Mark Waskiewicz on the second playoff hole, as Waskiewicz also carded a three-round total of 238. Justin Dion finished third while Dave Donoghue was fourth.

Richard Simmons was the gross champion in the Blue Tee Division, while Dave Lively was the net champion there. Chet Kugler took the title in the Gold Tee Division.

Thomas Ladies

Dorothy Adams, Marilyn Kostanski, Deb Puchalski and Mary Ellen Fydenkevez were the top point quota winners at Wednesday’s Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club’s Ladies League.

Jane Smith was closest to the pin on No. 7 at 15-3.

Sally Malloy, Barb Howey, Wendy Kendrick and Deb Cote were the scramble winners.

Timmons League

Match medalist Andy Lesenski had another big night, as he fired a 34 and teamed with Kyle Matteson for a first-place low gross of 32 at Wednesday’s Timmons League played at Northfield Golf Course.

Jim Cadran and Joel Cole took second with a 34.

Doug Farrick and Pete Blake won a match of cards with a 27, as Brian Cocco and Russ George also posted a total of 27.

Farrick was closest to the pin on No. 6 (11-9) and Rick Stemple was closest on No. 7 (7-11).

Hole-in-one

Randy Bernard of Greenfield sank his first-ever hole-in-one Wednesday at the Country Club of Greenfield.

With Sally Bernard as his witness, Bernard aced the 125-yard, 5th hole at CCG with an 8-iron.

Running

Race Against Child Abuse 5K

Registration is underway for the the second annual Race Against Child Abuse 5K.

The race, a 5K run or walk, will be held Sept. 16 at the Children’s Advocacy Center at 56 Wisdom Way in Greenfield. Registration is at 8 a.m., with the event beginning at 9 a.m. Runners can register online at www.runreg.com or visit the Children Advocacy Center website at cacfranklinnq.org.

Don Maynard 5-Miler

Registration is underway for the 24th Annual Don Maynard 5-Mile Road Race.

Miscellany

Hoop officials course

The Hampshire-Franklin International Association of Approved Basketball Officials will run a series of classes for new candidates beginning on Spet. 26 at 7 p.m. at Amherst Regional High School.

Classes will be held Wednesday nights and will be taught by Andy Rogers and Jim Cleveland. Anyone interested in officiating high school or middle school should sign up and attend the classes, which will prepare individuals for the two-part IAABO National New Candidates exam in November. Candidates will also be required to pass a national background check.
