The storm on a recent Wednesday night was a whopper. My 9-year-old golden retriever, Jack, was scared skinny. He has never been upstairs in all his years. Well, there he was upstairs licking my face in the middle of the night. Morning comes and he is too scared to come down the stairs.
So, after hours of promises of cheese and a walk, he was not budging. My husband was just out of the hospital and could not move him either. I called the Greenfield Fire Department and the dispatcher, bless her heart, called me back and told me a Greenfield police officer would be there in 10 minutes.
Jason arrived, he was great with Jack, but Jack would not budge. Another officer, Aaron, arrived and it took two big strong guys to get 100 pounds of dead weight and stubborn dog down the stairs. We are lucky to have caring police officers in Greenfield. Especially guys like Jason and Aaron. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Now there is a gate on the stairs and Jack got cheese on his breakfast.
