NORTHFIELD — A rollover accident closed Gulf Road for over an hour on Wednesday. One driver involved in the accident, operating a white Toyota Tacoma, did not sustain any injuries, fire officials said.

At approximately 2:15, the driver was traveling northbound on Gulf Road when he flipped the vehicle, according to Northfield Fire Chief Floyd “Skip” Dunnell. The driver told police he had tried to avoid a deer.

The driver then hit a bolder on the side of the road causing the truck to roll over, Northfield Police Department said in a statement.

The car landed on the passenger’s side in the middle of the road. Both airbags were deployed, the windshield shattered and the vehicle sustained heavy damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle, as well as the roof.

Northfield fire, EMS and police responded to the scene, shutting down the road for over an hour. The truck was towed from the scene shortly after the accident.

No other information was available about the accident.
