NORTHFIELD — A committee of residents to aid in the town administrator search process has been appointed by the Selectboard.

The members of the committee are Lois Stearns, Cate Woolner, Steve Stoia, Susan Wright, Stephen Seredynski, Kathy Wright and Barry Bordner.

The search process is being managed by Community Paradigm Associates, a company hired by the Selectboard to access a larger pool of candidates than likely would have applied otherwise. A search committee is a normal part of the company’s process, said Community Paradigm Associates Principal Bernie Lynch.

The committee will assist in narrowing the initial pool of applicants, which Lynch said will likely be between 20 and 40 candidates, and narrowing it to three candidates to be interviewed by the Selectboard.

The whole process will likely run through October, Lynch said.

In the meantime, interim Town Administrator Bernie Kubiak’s contract has been extended through the end of the year, to cover the town through the search process and to give a period of overlap between Kubiak’s tenure and the new town administrator’s.

Kubiak was hired in May, with his contract originally set to expire at the end of September. He has said that he does not want to apply for the full-time position.
