It’s back-to-back titles for BTU.

Between the Uprights went a perfect 4-0 in the Montague Co-Rec Softball League postseason, culminating with a 14-6 championship victory over Kustom Auto Body on Saturday at Unity Park.

Cody Pease, Sunny Lucas and Luis Melendez all had three hits, including a home run, to pace BTU in the finals. Kelly Sadler smacked a pair of hits in the win.

In the semifinals, BTU snuck past Turners Falls Pizza House, 17-14, as Melendez hit a pair of home runs. Jay Bohonowicz clubbed a three-run home run and Jenessa Murphy added two hits for the winners.

BTU beat Kustom earlier on Satuday in the winner’s bracket, 10-4, with defensive work from Jaclyn LaFleur and Cassie Kazar. Lucas, Pease and Jake Coburn all contributed home runs.

The postseason kicked off with a 15-7 win over Business & Pleasure, as Pease hit two home runs and Coburn and Lucas both smacked long balls.

Jeff Holmes was the winning pitcher in three of the four games for BTU.

Par 3 Championship

Steve Jones and Jason Kelton each shot 57 to tie for first place in the Driver Flight of the Par 3 Championship at the Country Club of Greenfield on Sunday.

Garrett Cousineau and Jamie Crocker tied for third with a 59. Jack Varner won the Spoon Flight with a 55. Rick Sigda was second with a 57, and Clint McCloud was third with a 59. Pat Varner and Casey Fahey tied atop the Cleek Flight with a 60, while Tony Wosneski captured third with a 61. Matt Pitoniak won the Mid-Iron Flight with a 58. Ernie Patnode came in second with a 59, while Dan O’Connell and John Cormican tied for third with a 62. Doug Muehlberg won the Mashie Flight with a 64. Chuck O’Connell was second with a 68, and Jon Unaitis was third at 69.

Jim Worden, Forbes Byron, Scott Stacy and Randy Bernard tied for first place in the Mashie Niblick Flight each with a 60. Diane Carme won the Niblick Flight with a 56. Sherry Chaffee was second with a 64, and Teresa Varner was third with a 65. Elaine Goodhind won the Putter Flight with a 59. Barb Killeen was second with a 66, and Sue Sigda was third with a 67. Carol Ruggeri won the Sand Iron Flight with a 51. TC Emerson and Irene Woods tied for second with a 56. Ryan Cote won the Lob Wedge Flight with a 63, while Gunnar Moore was second with a 66, and Ryan Blanchard was third with a 67.

O’Connell ace

Kevin O’Connell aced the 148-yard second hole at the Country Club of Greenfield on Saturday.

O’Connell used a 6-iron and the feat was witnessed by Dan O’Connell, Chuck O’Connell and Sean O’Connell.

Edge Hill Two-Ball

John Walsh and Greg Bergeron fired a 73 to win the Edge Hill Golf Course Two Ball Tournament over the weekend in Ashfield.

Brett Sallee and Jeff Carantit won low net with a 56. June Heideman and Ronnie Parker won the couples low net with a 58. Carantit was closest to the pin on No. 10 at 19 feet, 8 inches, while Sallee was closest on No. 16 at 39-10. Phil Sherburne won the longest drive competition.

High schools

GHS field hockey car wash

The Greenfield High School field hockey team is holding a free car wash Saturday from 10-2 at the Shell Station on the Mohawk Trail in Greenfield.

Donations are welcomed, and the money will go toward supporting the GHS field hockey program.

Youth baseball

Newt fall sign-ups

The Newt Guilbault Community Baseball League is holding sign-ups for its fall ball season tonight from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Campbell Field concession stand (35 Crocker Ave. in Turners Falls).

The league is open to any player in the community aged 7-12.

The fee, which includes a shirt and hat, is $75 per player or $50 for siblings.

FC Babe Ruth sign-ups

The Franklin County Babe Ruth League is again holding sign-ups for fall baseball. Players ages 12-14 are eligible to play, as the league is an excellent program for young players being introduced to a 90-foot diamond and a head start for players entering middle school baseball next spring.
