DEERFIELD — The town is moving, although slowly, toward having its general guidelines drafted for marijuana businesses that want to come town.

The Selectboard moved forward with crafting a community host agreement for cultivation at its Aug. 8 meeting, pending the approval of the town’s lawyer. A few minor changes were made at the meeting.

The members said they hope to have a rough draft for a retail pot dispensary community host agreement — the document that outlines what a business needs to do to comply with local laws, including the portion of its profits that go toward education and policing in town — ready for its next meeting on Wednesday. It may then be available for a vote on Sept. 5 or 19.
