HEATH —The 101st Heath Fair starts Friday, with three days of food, animals and local entertainment.
Those who come Friday night can have a Church Ladies’ ham and bean supper, watch the antique tractor parade and tractor pull, play bingo and join the Fall Town String Band for an old-fashioned square dance, from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Fireworks will start at nightfall.
Saturday’s highlights include a rabbit show, master gardener tent, herd-dog demo, and several other animal shows: a goat show, sheep show, cattle show and horse draws. Special programs will include the Kevin Ford sheep shearing, a Massachusetts Apiary Program, “Economic Revival in the Hills,” by Rural Commonwealth, and “New England Good Food Vision.”
Kids’ games and zucchini races are also among Saturday’s highlights.
The Heath Firefighters Association’s chicken barbecue is a big attraction both Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday, there is a church service, a blueberry pancake breakfast, a youth cattle show and 4-H programs, and the traditional parade, starting at 1 p.m.
New this year is the “Natural Horsemanship/Hunter/Jumper Day Clinic by licensed equine instructor Tarah Shepard. The fee for two sessions is $100.
Tickets are $8, $6 for seniors, and free for children ages 9 and younger.
