Camp Apex goes through Aug. 24: Camp Apex is the Y’s outdoor camp located just three miles west of the rotary on Peckville Road. The camp facility is top notch with a solar heated pool, nature center, craft building, modern bathhouse, two picnic shelters, archery, sports field, obstacle course, hiking trails, gentle stream and more. The camp operates through Aug. 24 with weekly themes and several specialty themes. The camp is for boys and girls ages 5-14 (5-year-olds who have completed kindergarten); children are divided into groups by age. The camp has an overall ratio of eight kids per staff member. Fall Program Brochure: The Y’s Fall Program Brochure is now available. The 28-page brochure has a complete listing of over 150 classes and programs for youth and adults. Youth classes include swimming, gymnastics, soccer, Parkour, before/after school child care, full day preschool and more. Before/After School Childcare: The Y provides before and after school childcare for K-6 graders from Greenfield, Turners and Gill. Before school care happens in the Y’s game room and Kid Fit Center with easy drop-off at the Y’s rear entrance. After school care children use the game room, Kid Fit center, basketball court for daily P.E. and the social room for homework. Parents can also add swimming lessons for an extra fee. September/October Program Registration: Registration for all adult and youth classes and programs is open for everyone. Classes begin Sept. 4 through 10. All information can be found in the Program Brochure at ymcaingreenfield.org or by picking up a copy at the YMCA. Some of the changes/additions this year include “Live Strong,” Healthy Bones and Balance, Cycle Together (spinning), new youth swim lesson format, new gymnastics classes, kids Kung Fu and Tae Kwon Do, more volunteer opportunities and more group exercise classes. Youth Soccer: The Y offers three age groups (ages 4-5, 6-8, and 9-10) of co-ed youth soccer. All age groups meet at the GCC soccer fields on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Soccer is a great sport for kids with cardio workout and very little standing around. League fees are $30 for Y Gold Family Members, $60 for Y Silver members, and $90 for non-members. Financial aid is available to cover up to 70 percent of the fees.

Full Day Preschool: The Y is taking registrations for the 2018-19 school year. There are two air-conditioned classrooms, an outdoor play area, weekly swim and gymnastics lessons and daily P.E. School hours are from 8:3 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Early care from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and late care from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The preschool meets on snow days. Call Lisa at 773-3646, ext. 431 to schedule a tour.
