SHELBURNE FALLS — Artfully presented meals of salmon, beef Bourguignon or polenta, made by local restaurants, highlight this year’s 18th annual Iron Bridge Dinner.

Tickets for the Sunday, Aug. 26 dinner are on sale, and this year diners will find it roomier, because 300 — instead of 400 — will be seated at the linen-clad tables spanning the bridge across the river.

The ticket price has gone up this year; this is because there is reduced seating and because restaurant staff preparing the food are now being paid for their work.

The Iron Bridge Dinner began in 2001 as an event to celebrate completed repairs on the Iron Bridge. It was modeled after a bridge dinner in France. The idea of having a community dinner in such a scenic setting was so popular that tickets have sold out nearly every year the dinner has been held. The meal is now a major fundraiser for both the Greater Shelburne Falls Area Business Association (GSFABA) and the Mohawk Regional High School Athletic Association, which provides students to serve the meal and help with set-up and clean-up work. Seating is at 5:30 p.m., with meals served around 6 p.m.

Tickets for members of the Business Association are $75, and general admission tickets are $100.

Tickets are on sale until Aug. 22. To reserve your tickets, call 413-625-2526 or email: info@shelburnefalls.com. Leave your name, phone number and the number of tickets you wish to purchase. Someone from the Greater Shelburne Falls Area Business Association will call you back to complete your purchase. You may also pre-order wine when buying tickets.
