Amalie Sullivan-Joyce, Julia Hioe and Tia Gottschalk each had three hits on Thursday night and Frontier Red outlasted Greenfield Grizzlies, 18-13, in a Suburban League 14U softball game at Zabek Field in South Deerfield.
Gottschalk doubled and scored three times in the win, Sullivan-Joyce scored three times, and Hioe scored twice.
Tara O’Connor scored three times for Frontier, while Isabel Marrapese and Emma Clancy each had one hit and scored twice. Emma Paulin and Chelsea Camp each scored once, while Gabby Frangie made a nice catch in left field in the seventh inning to preserve the lead. Hioe earned the win with three strikeouts in seven innings.
Rachel Dodge singled, doubled and scored three times for Greenfield, and Ainslee Flynn had three hits, a double and two RBIs. Kaitlin Lavoine and Caelyn Patenaude each had a single and a double, and Kelsey Richardson and Kameryn Dearborn each had a pair of hits. Faith Smith chipped in a single. Lillia Kachelmeyer and Brielle Widelo combined for 10 strikeouts in the loss.
Frontier 12s win
Holly Meyers struck out 15 and scattered eight hits over eight innings as Frontier edged Easthampton, 11-9, in eight innings in a SL 12U game Thursday at Nonotuck Park in Easthampton.
Meyers also had two hits and two RBIs in the win. Brianna Storozuk, Hailey Hutkoski and Jessica Campbell each had a hit and two RBIs, and Ashley Taylor had a pair of hits.
Turners 14s lose
Taryn Thayer hit an RBI triple for Turners Falls on Thursday but the Invaders dropped a 19-1 decision in five innings to Westfield in a SL 14U game in Turners Falls.
Olivia Whittier doubled in the loss.
