In response to an article written by Max Marcus, the widespread issue of polystyrene use in Massachusetts is a problem that requires more attention from lawmakers and citizens. Continuing to allow the use of this plastic and others contribute to the permanent damage to our beautiful state, which I think we can all agree shouldn’t be polluted with polystyrene.

Styrofoam, or polystyrene, fills up to 30 percent of landfill space. By ridding it in the state, waste amounts will be hugely cut. The goal of this campaign is to outlaw polystyrene use in the state of Massachusetts. Implementing this ban would provide better lives for future generations and wildlife throughout the country.

The article addresses the issue of single-use plastic consumption in the form of an environmentally-conscious student using recyclable materials for their engineering project of cooking s’mores. This is a time sensitive issue that individuals have the power to change, which is a push in the right direction toward a safer world with less pollution.
