After splitting a pair of games on Saturday, both the Greenfield and Frontier All-Stars are in position to advance in the Cal Ripken 11U Northeast Regional Tournament.

Both teams stand at 1-1 after Sunday’s games were washed out due to poor weather in Dedham. They return to action tonight, as Greenfield meets host Dedham and Frontier tangles with Marshwood, Maine. Both games are at 6 p.m. The top three teams in each pool advance to the next round, which begins Tuesday, while the top finisher in each pool earns a bye until Wednesday’s semifinal round.

Greenfield picked up a 4-2 win over Arlington, Mass. on Saturday, as Braeden Tsipenyuk drove in Ethan Quinn (single) with the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning that broke a 2-2 tie. Tsipenyuk eventually scored on a dropped third strike to give Greenfield some insurance.

Quinn finished the deal on the mound. He struck out three in 3 1/3 innings of relief, and he closed out the win by inducing a ground ball back to the mound with two runners on base in the bottom of the sixth. Quinn and starting pitcher Jackson Campbell combined for zero walks in the win.

Greenfield took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, as Campbell scored on a passed ball. The lead grew to 2-0 in the fourth, when Cameron Burnett launched a massive solo home run over the fence.

Arlington tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, with Luke Bode driving in the tying run on a single.

Quinn worked out of a jam in the bottom of the fifth, as he stranded a runner on third base with no outs after two strikeouts and a nice catch by Jackson Campbell in foul territory. That set the stage for the top of the sixth.

Greenfield dropped its tournament opener to Washington Park, R.I., 9-3, earlier in the day on Saturday, thanks in large part to six errors in the field.

The squad jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Quinn tripled home Campbell with one out.

Washington Park answered quickly, scoring four unearned runs in the first inning. It was 5-1 until the third, when Quinn walked and scored on a Hugh Cyhowski RBI ground out.

Washington Park tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third, and Cyhowski’s RBI single in the fifth that plated Campbell was the last run of the night for Greenfield.

Jacob Brook and Brayden Thayer also had hits for Greenfield.

In Greenfield’s pool, all four teams are 1-1 entering today’s final games of round-robin play. The top three teams advance while the last-place finisher is eliminated.

Frontier sits at 1-1 in its pool, and is in excellent shape to advance regardless of tonight’s outcome. The club already has a win over Dover, N.H., which sits as the lone team in the field at 0-2.

Frontier picked up a 10-2 win over Dover on Saturday night, as Brayden McDonough smacked two hits, including a double, while Owen Babb, Kaden James (double) and Dylan Camp (double) drove in two runs apiece. CJ Hannum tripled, Michael Hoie doubled, and Margaret Edwards and James Lavallee each singled to help the Frontier offense. Babb, Camp and Harry Laflamme scored two runs each.

Babb struck out six batters in 3 2/3 innings of work, and Hannum came on in relief to strike out three in 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Frontier’s tournament began with a 12-1 loss to Dracut, which is the only 2-0 team in the field after wins over Frontier and Marshwood, Maine.
