Jonathan Elkins shot a three-over par, 75, on Thursday and finished eighth in the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Hub Championship at the Country Club of Halifax.

The South Deerfield resident finished with a three-round total of 220 to place eighth in the 72-player field, his top finish ever in an AJGA event. His previous best was 14th.

Elkins entered the final round tied for third place at one-over par but had four bogies and one double bogey to go along with three birdies to shoot the 75. Chris Fosdick, of Middlefield, Conn., entered the final round at four-under and shot an even-par, 72, to finish the tournament with a 212 and win by one stroke over Adam Xiao of Manhasset, N.Y., who also shot a 72 on Thursday and finished with a 213. Andrew Farraye of St. Augustine, Fla. had the low-round of the entire tournament with a seven-under 65 and took third at 216.

The final round started out promising for Elkins, as he birdied Nos. 1 and 5 to quickly close the gap on Fosdick, but a double on No. 7 dropped him back to even. He birdied No. 9 to move to one-under, but struggled late in the round as he bogeyed four of the final six holes.
