WARWICK — Dawn Magi has resigned from the Selectboard after eight years on the board. On Tuesday she submitted her letter of resignation, which was effective immediately, said Town Coordinator David Young.
“I choose not to work in a hostile environment,” Magi said. “I will miss the board because I enjoyed the work very much and I feel that I gained experience and knowledge every year. … I will miss working with David (Young) because he was very smart.”
She declined further comment.
Magi was voted onto the Selectboard in 2010. She had served on the Finance Committee for five years before that. She said she has not yet decided whether she will be involved in town government in any other capacity.
To fill Magi’s seat, the Selectboard may either wait for the next regular Selectboard election, which Selectboard Chairman Doc Pruyne said is on Nov. 6, or hold a special election sooner. Pruyne said that he and Selectman Jim Erviti do not have a plan yet for how to proceed.
“I hope that we can find a candidate to come forward and run for the position,” Pruyne said.
Alternatively, Young said, townspeople may force a special election by petition.
