BERNARDSTON — Two Hartford, Conn., residents were arrested on cocaine trafficking charges after being stopped by Massachusetts State Police in Bernardston earlier this week.
State Police announced the arrest late Thursday night, although it happened early Sunday morning.
Around 1:40 a.m. Trooper Michael Leslie of the Shelburne Barracks stopped a gray sedan with loud exhaust and a broken plate light, which he spotted near the cross over of Interstate 91 in Greenfield. The car was stopped in Bernardston, leading to the arrest of the two individuals on drug charges.
In the vehicle, police found 28 grams of crack cocaine.
The driver of the vehicle, Rondale Mapp, 31, of Hartford, Conn., was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, operation of a motor vehicle on a suspended license, unregistered motor vehicle, motor vehicle lights violation and operating a motor vehicle with loud exhaust.
Passenger Latifa Brown, 26, of East Hartford, Conn., was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
Bail was set at $5,040 for Mapp and $3,540 for Brown, according to State Police.
