Our dog Calvin went through therapy dog training at Bright Spot in Northampton. He goes to four nursing homes regularly, and the residents know his name and love him. He brings a smile and an opportunity for petting to folks who may be missing their own pets or just want some contact.
Some of the dogs are reading buddies at libraries and in elementary schools. The Bright Spot dogs also visit UMass and other colleges during finals week to help de-stress the students. This is a rewarding and wonderful program for all involved and I highly recommend it.
