SOUTH DEERFIELD — The Special Town Meeting went swiftly Monday night, unanimously approving a brief warrant that including formally finalizing the sale of the Oxford site of the old pickle plant, approving another sewer study and paying for the repair of the police station roof.

In about 15 minutes, the room with less than 40 residents in it, readily approved the articles that couldn’t make it on the annual Town Meeting’s warrant in April.

The site sold to the New England Natural Bakers for about $357,000 was approved and the site for the Greenfield industrial duMONT company, which is expected to be officially closed on in the next few weeks, were approved by residents. The approval to appropriate money for the pieces of land on the Oxford site was mostly housekeeping.

Residents agreed to spend $74,600 to pay for a wastewater systems condition assessment and needs analysis project. Residents did question whether this sewer study will be different than the ones conducted by the town previously. Selectboard member Trevor McDaniel said this time will be different and Chairwoman Carolyn Shores Ness said, “I feel this is critical for me to make a decision to move forward.”

Following Deerfield Police Chief John Paciorek, Jr. realizing the station roof is leaking, residents agreed to use $48,000 to repair it.
