Mason Lehtomaki’s flare for the dramatics powered Greenfield Savings Bank to a title Thursday night.
Lehtomaki drove a game-winning double into the gap in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Devin Emond, to give GSB a walk-off 4-3 victory over Turners Falls Athletic Club in Game 2 of the best-of-three Newt Guilbault Community Baseball League championship series at Campbell Field in Turners Falls.
The Bankers claimed the title with a 2-0 sweep, as they were 6-1 winners in Wednesday night’s Game 1.
Johnny Marchefka, Ollie Postera and Gabe Voudren all had two hits for GSB. Voudren pitched well in relief for the victors.
TFAC, which ran the table undefeated until the championship series, was led by a stellar pitching outing by Ryan Demers, who also had a hit at the plate.
Junior Legion
Garrett DeForest’s complete-game gem propelled Greenfield Post 81 to a 2-0 win over Longmeadow in an American Legion Baseball Junior Division game Thursday night at Veterans Memorial Field in Greenfield.
DeForest struck out nine and allowed just two hits and one walk to earn the shutout.
Greenfield took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Bryan Baumann walked and later scored on a passed ball. In the fourth, Jake Sak walked, stole second and scored on Corbin Blight’s RBI single. Blight’s hit was the only hit of the game for Post 81.
Greenfield hosts Belchertown Sunday night at 7 at Vets Field.
Sandy Koufax
Cayden Lehtomaki and Hunter Haughey combined to strike out 17 in a no-hitter as the Pioneer Stone Seals/Travel Kuz defeated Hatfield, 4-1, in a Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Sandy Koufax game Thursday at Smith Academy in Hatfield.
Jason Quinn and James Robison each had a hit an an RBI in the win. Lehtomaki singled and scored twice, and Chris Miner singled.
• On Wednesday, Matt Como and Aidan Falla had two hits each, as Frontier-Alber Hearing Services rallied from a 5-0 deficit to defeat Westfield, 6-5, in Westfield.
Tyler Baranowski and Ben Zaranek each had a hit and two RBIs for Frontier, while Tom Alber, Sean Kirkendall, Kevin Baumann and Gehrig Brynda all singled. Tyler Baranowski came on to pitch in the fifth and earned the victory.
• Also Wednesday, Deven Buchanon had two hits and four RBIs but Hubie’s Tavern Diamond Dawgs fell to Northampton, 10-9, at Florence Field.
Rueben Bassett had two hits in the loss, and Casey Hoffman had a hit. Jaden Moore and Ben Thompson combined to strike out four.
Mickey Mantle
Anthony Moffatt’s line drive single to right-centerfield scored Matt Pollen with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Hilltown Hardwood Flooring Diamond Dawgs walked off with a 7-6 win over Dalton in a Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Mickey Mantle game Thursday night in Buckland.
Pollen worked a one-out walk and went to second when Jordan Grenier hit a two-out single. Moffatt, who went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, followed with the game-winning hit.
Grenier finished 3-for-4 with an RBI in the win, and Cam Lococo went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Tim Fritz added a double. Jared Jacobs struck out five in relief and got out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth to allow the Diamond Dawgs to come back. Cam Baird struck out one in the eighth to earn the win.
Hilltown Hardwood hosts Frontier Tuesday at 5:30 in Buckland.

Cody Houghton had himself quite a birthday Thursday.
Houghton struck out six in a no-hitter, leading New Fortune to a 16-0 win over Gilmore & Farrell Insurance in a Greenfield Minor League Baseball Majors Division game at Vets Field.
Nico Fasulo went 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs in the win, while Joe Kirley and Braeden Tsipenyuk each had doubles and drove in two runs apiece. Matt Houghton and Shaun Turner both had two hits. Ethan Quinn, Heath Gomez and Eli Guerin all drove in a run.
Jake Petrin and Dillon Gagnon combined to strike out five for Gilmore & Farrell.
FC Babe Ruth
Trevor Lapinski struck out five, earning the victory on the mound, as Turners Falls Athletic Club edged Smitty’s Pub, 11-9, in a Franklin County Babe Ruth game Thursday night at Abercrombie Field.
TFAC, which scored four runs on four hits in the third inning to get things rolling, received two hits and two RBIs from Noah Uzdavinis, Ethan Russell, Adan Hernandez and Jackson Harper. Gillis MacDougall played well defensively behind the plate.
Smitty’s was powered by Ian Simpson’s 3-for-3 night with two RBIs. Miles Ferreira and Sam Knight had two hits apiece.
12U Suburban
Frontier Red scored 13 runs in extra innings, holding off the Greenfield Grizzlies, 20-14, in a wild, eight-inning 12-and-under Suburban League softball game Wednesday night at Vets Field in Greenfield.
The game was tied 7-7 and headed to extra innings, where both offenses exploded.
Holly Myers was 3-for-4 with a home run, triple and six RBIs in a huge offensive outing for Frontier. Ashley Taylor was 2-for-5 with a bases-clearing triple, while Brianna Storozuk had two hits, including a two-run double.
Greenfield’s Sofia Holden pitched 7 1/3 innings and finished with 18 strikeouts. Margarette Howland had two doubles and two RBIs, Alysia Knapp had a double, a triple, and two RBIs, Anna Bucala had a hit and an RBI, and Sofia Holden had two RBIs.
PV Women’s League
Molly MacMunn was 3-for-4 with two doubles and six RBIs, helping Conway defeated Shelburne Falls, 22-14, in a Pioneer Valley Women’s Softball League game Thursday night in Conway.
Kristin Ouellette was a perfect 5-for-5 with a pair of RBIs in the win, and Jamie Jackman also had a big night, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs.
Amanda Chaplin was 3-for-4 to power the Shelburne Falls offense.
• Elsewhere, Taylor Boutwell and Meg Burrington had two hits apiece, and Boutwell drove in two runs to help Ashfield past Goshen, 6-4.
Carolyn Bache had a hit and two RBIs in the win for Ashfield.
Goshen’s Marjery Rida registered two hits and two RBIs.
Montague Co-Rec
Dan Shea belted a grand slam on Thursday night to lead Bob’s Oil Burner Service to a 26-19 over Business & Pleasure in a Montague Co-Rec Adult Softball League game at Unity Park in Turners Falls.
Justin Simpson added a three-run bomb in the win.
Charlie Berderosa hit for the cycle in the loss, and Rilee Stafford doubled.
CFC Men’s League
Brett Barnes (plus-12) took first place from the Blue Tees at the Crumpin-Fox Club’s Men’s League Thursday night in Bernardston.
Jonny Elkins was second at plus-10, followed by Mark Waskiewicz and Evan Haskins at plus-5.
Keith Burch was closest to the pin on No. 3 (7 feet, 4 inches) and Haskins was closest on No. 9 (9-6).
In Gold Tees action, Peter Jenkins took first with a plus-8 quota, followed by Phil Phillips at plus-3. Phillips also won the closest to the pin competition on No. 3 (13-8) and Roger Rulewich was closest on No. 9 (14-5).
CFC Women’s League
Jill Waldron posted a plus-4 point quota, topping the field at the Crumpin-Fox Club’s Women’s League Wednesday in Bernardston.
Corky Sysun was plus-2 to finish in second place.
Waldron was closest to the pin on No. 9 (9-4), and Ellen Merkle was closest on No. 3 (6-9).
Northfield Summer Series
Seth Montgomery’s time of 20 minutes, 52 seconds led the way Thursday as 36 runners and seven walkers competed in the third race of the 3.3-mile Northfield Summer Road Race series.
Kate Shutta (23:37) was the first female across the line and fifth overall.
