Hawley special town meeting Tuesday

HAWLEY — At Tuesday’s special town meeting at 7 p.m., voters will be asked to spend $28,100 to engineer a culvert replacement on Route 8A, near Sears Road, and $18,720 to fix a damaged section of Route 8A near Pudding Hollow Road.

The money for these infrastructure repairs is to come from the town’s “free cash” reserves. If approved by voters, use of this money would leave a free-cash balance of $55,390 — about $5,855 more than the town had at the end of the last fiscal year, according to Financial Administrator Virginia Gabert.

The other articles on the warrant are to approve smaller sums to cover budget items in the fiscal year that begins July 1. These requests are: $3,000 for emergency medical services; $200 for website and domain hosting services, and $3,500 for accrued sick pay. The meeting will be held in the Town Office.
