TURNERS FALLS — A service dog-in-training and his owner will pay a visit to Greenfield Savings Bank Saturday.

Mary Ellen Fydenkevez and Cash, a 9-month-old puppy training to be an assistance dog, will be at the Turners Falls Greenfield Savings Bank on Saturday at 10 a.m. Visitors will have a chance to meet Cash and hear the story of his training.

Fydenkevez is a volunteer with Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), an organization that provides assistance dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities — for free.

Fydenkevez and her family have raised and trained service dogs-to-be in their home for years. The training process usually takes about a year and a half.

Cash is the seventh dog raised by the family for CCI. He is on his way to learning around 40 commands from Fydenkevez so he can provide an independent life to someone who needs him.

GSB will provide light refreshments for attendees.
