Jason Quinn and Jake Dodge combined on a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts to lead Pioneer Stone Seals to a 4-2 win over Northampton in a Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League Sandy Koufax game Sunday evening at Florence Fields in Northampton.

Dodge had two hits and three RBIs in the win and Robby Kenyon had one hit and one RBI. Dalton Henderson had one hit and scored twice while Levin Prondecki and James Robison singled.

• On Saturday, Tom Alber and Kyle Barnes each had two hits and one RBI to lead Alber Hearing Services to a 6-2 win over Amherst at Headmaster Field in Deerfield on Saturday.

Gehrig Brynda had one hit and one RBI, while Ben Zaranek, Matt Como and Aidan Falla each had one hit. Tyler Baranowski drove in a run as Barnes earned the win.

Newt Guilbault

Alex Sulda struck out 10 in a complete-game effort and Turners Falls Athletic Club edged Greenfield Savings Bank, 4-1, in a Newt Guilbault Community League baseball game Saturday at Campbell Field in Turners Falls.

GSB took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth until Alex Knapp tied it with an RBI single. TFAC added a second run in the fourth to take the lead, then scored twice in the fifth for a cushion. Sulda singled and doubled in the win, Sammy Studlein hit an RBI double and Daniel Widmer had two hits.

Brodry Girard, Devin Emond and Gabe Voudren combined to strike out six in the loss. Johnny Marchefka singled and doubled, Oliver Postera doubled and Voudren singled.

Babe Ruth

Jake Whitney hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to lift Parody Builders to a 9-8 win over Smitty’s Pub in a Franklin County Babe Ruth Baseball League game Saturday at Abercrombie Field in Greenfield.

Pat Boyden pitched the final four innings to earn the win. Emelio DiDonna went 1-for-1 in his first appearance and Todd Chiasson had one hit and three RBIs.

Tyler Cusson struck out four in three innings in his pitching debut. Joey White hit an RBI double and Miles Ferreira went 2-for-3.

Mickey Mantle

Kyle Devlin struck out eight and did not walk a batter in six innings but Hilltown Hardwood Flooring Diamond Dawgs suffered a 2-1 loss to Northampton in a PVYBL Mickey Mantle baseball game Sunday evening at Mohawk Trail Regional High School in Buckland.

Jared Jacobs pitched one shutout inning of relief in the loss. Anthony Moffatt doubled while Jacob Burnett, Jordan Grenier and Jacobs had one hit.

Patrick Serio struck out seven in the win.

Golf

Herzig ace

Rodney Herzig aced the 167-yard, third hole at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston on Friday.

Herzig used a five-iron from the blue tees to drain his ace. Ian Herzig witnessed the feat.

Mac Sennett 2-Ball

Chris Ferriter and Joe Wilson shot a 66 to win the Men’s Blue Flight during the Mac Sennett 2-Ball at the Country Club of Greenfield over the weekend.

Jim O’Donnell and Nate Burdick tied Andy Rogers and Anthony Jung, and Alan Smith and John Gale for second place with a 67. Joe Grasso and Mark Pandolfi were fifth with a 69.

Curt Marion and Jeff Edwards won low net with a 62. Brendan Fleming and Dan Fleming tied Jay Morgan and Dan Cutler for second place with a 63, and Terry Blanchard and Joe Golonka tied Jason Kelton and Scott Livingstone for fourth with a 64.

Bill Luippold and Mike Duclos won low gross in the Men’s White Flight with a 69. KJ Walsh and Ben Ferris took second with a 70, while Duclos and Mikey Duclos Jr., Keith Savoie and John Hess, Mark Shea and Steve Giard and Chuck Yetter and Dave Konopka tied for third with a 72.

Patrick Varner and Ike Purington won low net with a 57 while Purington and Casey Fahey were second with a 59. Dan Pires and David Fonte took third with a 60, and George Hassenfratz and Pat Kelley, Conrad Iuliano and Tom Windrum, and Tom Rogers and Terry Sinclair were fourth with a 61.

Nancy Donoghue and Diane Carme won low gross in the Women’s Division with a 80, while Liz Archer and Liz Dolby were second with a 82. Elaine Goodhind and Corky Sysun won low net with a 58, and Dawn Bete and Kim French were second with a 59.

Miscellany

Montague Warrior Dash

Area youths ages 5 to 12 are invited to take part in a new Warrior Dash Adventure/Obstacle Course Race set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Elementary School in Turners Falls.

The Montague Parks and Recreation Department and The Friends of Hillcrest Elementary School are partnering to bring the community its first adventure/obstacle race. Participants will be given the task of racing through a pre-designed course with multiple obstacles, and will compete in separate age categories (5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12) with boys and girls winners crowned in each category. The course may vary between some age groups.

Fees are $10 for Montague residents, and $15 for non-residents. The event is rain or shine. Shirts and sneakers are required (no sandals or open-toed shoes). Proceeds benefit MPRD’s scholarship program and the Hillcrest Playground Project Fund.
