Jonny Scagel and Owen Babb clubbed home runs as Yankee Candle edged VFW Post 3295, 6-3, in a Frontier Cal Ripken League baseball game Monday night in Sunderland.
Scagel scored twice and Babb added a double in the win for Yankee Candle, and both pitchers tossed an inning. Connor Kowalski had a hit and an RBI while Margaret Edwards added a hit and struck out three in an inning of work. Dylan Camp was the winning pitcher, striking out six in three innings.
For VFW, Andrew Canepa had a hit and drove in two of the team’s runs. Jadin Smith had the other RBI and Robert Slysz singled and scored a run.
Newt Guilbault
Gabe Voudren singled and tripled Monday night as Greenfield Savings Bank defeated St. Kazimeirz Society, 20-3, in a Newt Guilbault Community League baseball game at Campbell Field in Turners Falls.
Ethan Eichorn and J.J. Shepard doubled in the win, and Nathaniel Trinque had a hit and an RBI.
Kainen Stevens doubled in the loss.
• In other action, Alex Sulda and Alex Knapp combined to strike out 11 and Turners Falls Athletic Club dropped Booska’s Flooring, 22-5, at Gamelin Field.
Sulda hit a grand slam to go with a triple and single and drove in seven RBIs. Ryan Demers hit a solo home run and an RBI single, and Andre Widmer had three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Jack Doyle doubled, Matt Field had three hits, Daniel Widmer and Sammy Studlein had two hits apiece, and Knapp and Brody Girard each singled. Studlein also made a diving catch in the outfield.
Darion Burnett had two doubles and drove in a run for Booska’s, and Zaydrien Alamed hit an RBI double. Joey Mosca struck out eight in four innings and also hit an RBI single, and Ryan Cetto singled.
Mohawk Youth
Ezekiel Mirnin pitched three scoreless innings and had a pair of hits Monday night to lead the Charlemont Dodgers to a 16-5 win over Rowe in a Mohawk Youth League baseball game.
Dylan Schnorr, Joe Mason and Hannah Phillips each had a hit in the win.
Kameron Crowningshield struck out seven in the loss. Seth Lively and Naomi Denouden each played well defensively.
• Meanwhile, Jackson Morey singled twice, tripled and drove in five runs on Monday as the Buckland/Shelburne Padres defeated the Buckland/Shelburne Braves, 21-5, in Buckland.
Liam Green had two hits and three RBIs in the win, and Grayson Bishop had two hits and four RBIs, and also struck out six. Tanner Jenks had two hits and three RBIs and struck out four.
Jack Cusson had had two triples and struck out three in the loss. Cole Cross, Arlo Dube and Malcolm Briggs each played well defensively.
GGSL
Margarette Howland struck out 12 in the circle and went 2-for-3 with an RBI double to help Pipione’s Sport Shop to a 11-4 win over Crocker Communications in a Greenfield Girls’ Softball League Ponytail Division game Monday night at Murphy Park in Greenfield.
Alysia Knapp went 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBIs in the win and Shelby O’Leary went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Anna Bucala doubled and drove in three runs and Haylee Tuttle and Kylee Gamache each had a hit and an RBI.
Kelly Baird went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Crocker. Mackenzie Paulin struck out 10 in the loss and also singled.
• Elsewhere, Madison Liimatainen launched a home run and a double and finished with three total hits to help the Diamond Dusters to a 15-6 win over Descavich Plumbing on Monday night.
Anne Kolodziej slashed two hits for the Dusters, which received four strikeouts each from Taylor Greene and Holly Myers in four combined innings in the pitching circle.
Descavich’s Carly Blanchard paced her team with a pair of hits, and Lilly Ross also had a hit.
• In Lil Nipper Division action, Carson Farrell went 3-for-3, and Sofia Ruggeri went 2-for-2 as Camelot Carpet Cleaners beat Harper’s Store, 3-1.
Ava Worden went 3-for-3 in the loss, and Winter Sullivan had two hits.
Mark K. Memorial
John Boguslawski, Bob LaCoy, Tim Lang and John Kaczenski shot a 62 to win the Mark K. Memorial Mixed Golf League at Oak Ridge Golf Course in Gill on Monday.
Erik LaCoy, Bob Zaikowski, Bob Lapointe and Ken Trask came in second with a 64.
GCC Outing
The quartet of Dennis Booska, KC Finley, Scott Cote and Bob Provost combined to earn a low-gross total of 55 at Monday’s Greenfield Community College Outing held at the Country Club of Greenfield.
Jarrod Woods, Tom Frederick, Bob Welsh and Steve Boudreau posted a low net total of 55.
The low gross for mixed teams of 64 was posted by Mike Smith, Adam Lussier, Brock Hines and Darlene Tebaldi, while the low gross for women’s teams of Terry Boyce, Jean Simmons, Maggie Haigis and Lorraine Cetto (62).
