WARWICK — Local acupuncturists, reiki masters, psychics and other kinds of healers will be giving free services and classes today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Metcalf Chapel in Warwick for the first North Quabbin Health and Wellness Fair.

“We have all these little hill towns up here in North Quabbin where people think there’s nothing going on,” said fair organizer Tracey Alden. “But there’s a lot going on. We have a lot of talented teachers, farmers, artists, therapists, that are offering these therapies. … You don’t have to go to Northampton or Brattleboro or Greenfield. We have the resources right here. We want people to become more aware that they can support their local community.”

On the lawn outside the church, people will be selling health products and natural medicines. Massage therapists and other bodyworkers will give free sample sessions upstairs in the church. Musicians will also be performing from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Classes and workshops will be on such subjects as using herbs to treat Lyme diseases, medicinal uses of native mushrooms and pregnancy health through herbs.

A full program of events and classes is available on the Facebook page for the North Quabbin Health and Wellness Fair. Attendees may register for classes and services at the fair on Saturday or can register ahead by calling 508-631-6376.

“We want it to be accessible to anyone who desires it,” Alden said. “So we’re not charging anything. … We’re asking people to just make a contribution of whatever they can afford, of what they feel is necessary, what it’s worth to them.”
