I write in whole-hearted support of Carolyn Ness for re-election to the Deerfield Selectboard on Monday, May 7.

Among numerous reasons is her proactive leadership on behalf of the town. As a result of her efforts, Deerfield is now at the head of the line for up to $400,000 in state funds for infrastructure upgrades. Recently, the town of Deerfield received certification as one of the first five communities in the commonwealth to be certified in the state’s Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program (MVP).

Carolyn Ness took the lead in having the town apply for this designation when the program was announced last year. As a result of the MVP designation, our town is in a strong position to receive state funds toward culvert replacements and other infrastructure repairs. This means that culverts can be upgraded to accommodate larger storm flows and reduce flood impacts to our roadways and other infrastructure.

Whether it is funding for infrastructure, help for senior citizens, advocacy for our schools and library, or support for farms and working lands, Ms. Ness works for all of us. She is a demonstrated problem-solver who builds relationships among residents, across communities, regional and state agencies to bring benefits to the town and reduce costs to the taxpayers.

Our town needs Carolyn Ness on the Selectboard.
