Recently, you ran a rather snarky and misleading letter from Paul R. Olszewski regarding the scheduling of the Deerfield Selectboard meeting. I agree that it can be challenging to know when meetings are happening in town, but ALL the meetings are posted in advance on the town website’s calendar: https://www.deerfieldma.us/calendar.

And you can always call Town Hall at 413-665-1400.

In this case, as was reported in your paper, it wasn’t the Selectboard Chair, Carolyn Ness, who required that the meeting be moved, it was the law.

Why the snark, then? This tactic of misleading attacks in order to manufacture a grievance where there is no bad intent is what has brought our country to its current climate of deep division. Deerfield is better than that. Let us have an election based on policy, not on personal attacks. I challenge everyone running in this year’s election to share their perspectives on the issues we face: school funding; water security; marijuana management; senior housing, to name a few. No more personal attacks — let’s stick to facts.
