Jordan Grenier continued to dominate on the mound with five innings of no-hit pitching as Mohawk Trail Regional High School improved to 2-0 on the season with a 15-0 whitewashing of Turners Falls High School in a six-inning Hampshire League crossover baseball game Wednesday in Buckland.
Grenier, who no-hit Franklin County Technical School in a 6-0 season-opening victory a week ago, continued his streak of hitless innings with five more against Turners Falls. He left after striking out eight and walking one. Wyatt Bandy-Page pitched the sixth inning, allowing three hits, but stranded all three baserunners.
“Jordan is throwing strikes, pitching smart and using his breaking stuff at the right times,” Mohawk assistant coach John Finck said.
Brian Allen had four hits and drove in three runs to pace the Mohawk offense, which scored in every inning but the fourth. Luke Viens had three hits, four stolen bases and two RBIs. Will Guyette singled and doubled and drove in three runs, and Bandy-Page singled, doubled and drove in one run.
“They were aggressive in their approach and put the ball in play, and that’s basically what we ask them to do,” Finck said.
Hadyn Patenaude suffered the loss, allowing four runs and two walks in two innings. James Robison struck out three and walked two in three innings of relief, allowing eight runs. Jake Dodge, Jon Fritz and Kyle Dodge each had one hit in the loss.
