ERVING — Stephen Chan, 21, of Bristol, R.I., has been reported missing by his family and was last seen in Erving.

Stephen Chan is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes, weighing approximately 150 pounds, according to his older sister, Sin Chan, of Baltimore.

Stephen Chan also frequently wears glasses with rectangular rims, and is harmless, according to Sin Chan.

He has been missing since Monday, April 2. He was last seen in a light-colored, possibly gray, hooded sweatshirt — possibly the same sweatshirt pictured.

A police K-9 unit was able to track Stephen Chan’s scent to Dorsey Road, Erving, according to Erving Police Officer James Loynd.

Stephen Chan’s scent trail stopped on Dorsey Road, suggesting there is a possibility he was picked up by someone driving a vehicle, according to Loynd.

His sister said Stephen Chan and his family do not know anyone in western Massachusetts, but the ongoing investigation has revealed Stephen Chan took an Uber from East Templeton to Erving.

“He was under some pressure about school,” said Sin Chan, who added that her brother may have decided to run away.

Stephen Chan was attending college in Rhode Island and living with his parents in Bristol, R.I., but may have dropped out. He spoke with his parents the night before his disappearance, Sin Chan said.

Sin Chan said Rhode Island and Massachusetts police departments have been working on the case.

If you see Stephen Chan or have any information, call the Massachusetts State Police at 413-625-8200.
