So you know any local entrepreneurs who deserve time in the limelight?

Nominations for the Franklin County 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year Award are being collected but there’s still time this weekend if you go online.

“The community is asked to submit nominations for the business that has made a difference in our community,” saidAmy Shapiro, business development director at the Franklin County Community Development Corp. It can be a business or business owner in Franklin County. Nominations can be made on the fccdc.org website or use this link: http:bit.ly/NominateBiz.

The 2018 Haas Entrepreneur Award will be presented to a business owner whose business has at least three full-time jobs (including their own), has been in business for five or more years, has made a commitment to improve our community through social responsibility, environmental sustainability, financial contributions and volunteer time.

The Haas Entrepreneur of the Year award is named after Dick Haas, founder of Sugarhill Containers. Dick and Janet Haas believed in hard work, community and their values were reflected in their business and community involvement. This award honors business owners who make Franklin County special by balancing entrepreneurship and community. The first award in 2011 went to Alden Booth and Lissa Greenough, owners of People’s Pint. The 2012 award went to Molly and Van Wood of SmallCorp. In 2013 to Bruce Lessels and Karen Blom of Zoar Outdoor. In 2014 Craig White and Bob Lindner of Hillside Pizza. In 2015 Nan Parati, Elmer’s Store, 2016 Lisa Alber, Alber Hearing Services, and in 2017 PV Squared Solar.

The awardee will be announced at the April 20 Franklin County Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

The public is invited to a Celebrating Entrepreneurship Event on  May 10, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Hawks and Reed in Greenfield to congratulate and learn more about the 2018 awardee.
