NORTHFIELD –– A “meet-and-greet” with the two candidates for Northfield Selectboard, Robert Leighton and Alexander Meisner, is scheduled for Wednesday.
The event, at 7 p.m. at Centennial House, 94 Main St., is organized by the Northfield Area Tourism and Business Association. The “meet-and-greet” is the first item on the agenda for the group’s April meeting.
Association coordinator Joan Stoia said the event will be informal. The two candidates will introduce themselves, briefly describe their platforms, and then open the discussion to attendees’ questions.
The event is open to the public, and Northfield residents who may not be members of the association are welcome to attend, Stoia said. There will be seating for about 30 people, but there will be standing room, too. Parking for the meeting will be available on Meadow Street.
After hearing from the candidates, which is supposed to last about 45 minutes, there will be a presentation from Jessica Atwood, the economic development program manager at the Franklin Regional Council of Governments. Atwood will discuss branding techniques, as well as grants and other economic development resources that are available for local businesses.
