BERNARDSTON — To celebrate the first year making their own ice cream, Townline Ice Cream owners are holding a “Create a Flavor” contest. The winner will be awarded two free pints of ice cream, and the flavor will be sold at Townline the month the store opens — although the opening date is still a secret, co-manager Kayla Snow says.

“I already have a variety of flavors I’m making to test out,” Snow said, “but I thought it would be neat to have customers have the ability to create a flavor.”

This will be the first year that Townline Ice Cream sells its own homemade ice cream. Previously they sold Gifford’s. So far, the menu of homemade options is set to include ice creams, sorbets, frozen yogurts and a dairy-free “ice cream” that is coconut-based, Snow said.

Townline Ice Cream is a family business run by Kayla Snow, her husband Timothy Snow and his father Michael Snow. The business was founded by Michael Snow in 2005.

The final day to submit a flavor for the contest is today, March 24. The winner will be announced on Townline Ice Cream’s Facebook and Instagram pages next week.
