GREENFIELD — For the fifth year, high school students from across the region will get a chance to learn how to do their finances.
The “reality fair,” hosted by Greenfield Community College March 20 and 22, will bring about 400 students from eight different high schools to learn from financial counselors at the UMassFive College Federal Credit Union.
There will also be financial representatives from the Franklin First Credit Union and the Greenfield Cooperative Bank. Volunteers from Greenfield Community College and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office will also assist the students.
On Tuesday, students will come from Greenfield High School, Pioneer Valley Regional High School, Mohawk Trail Regional School, Turners Falls High School and Four Rivers Public Charter School.
On Thursday, students will come to the college from Frontier Regional School, Amherst-Pelham Regional High School and the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion School.
At the fair, students will be asked to imagine themselves at age 25 in a particular career, making a certain amount of money. Then they will work with a financial counselor and go to different booths and to learn how to best manage everything.
Across the nation, credit unions host “reality fairs” similar to the one UMassFive College Federal Credit Union will host this month.
