ORANGE — After three years of providing physical therapy in Orange, Ramsey Rehab is changing hands.

Professional Physical Therapy, which offers orthopedic and sports physical therapy in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, has acquired all six Ramsey Rehab locations, including Orange, opened in 2015.

Locations in Fitchburg, Holden, Leominster and Tyngsborough have also been acquired.

“Our new relationship with Professional Physical Therapy provides our patients with many benefits, including access to additional, convenient locations and expanded services throughout the Northeast,” said Ed Ramsey, founder of Ramsey Rehab.

Ramsey Rehab will join 26 additional Professional Physical Therapy locations in New England, allowing current patients to access private, outpatient services at any of those sites, and continue their same treatment plans if desired.

Many of the existing Professional Physical Therapy Massachusetts locations are in the Greater Boston and Cape Cod areas, but Ramsey Rehab patients will be able to visit clinics in other states as well.

According to Ramsey, the six acquired rehab centers will keep the same staff and leadership teams.

Ramsey also noted that the change will be good for patients and staff, because it will foster a “combined knowledge and expertise,” and that Professional Physical Therapy was named one of the best health care companies at which to work by Fortune magazine in 2017.

“We had options when partnering with a larger organization, but Professional’s reputation for service excellence in New England made this decision a very easy one,” Ramsey said.

Ramsey will also continue to have a leadership role at the locations, as his “mission and values are very similar to ours at Professional,” Adam Elberg, Professional Physical Therapy president and CEO, said in a statement.
