Greenfield lost a good number of jobs because Walmart was stopped.
Greenfield had to settle for a Dollar General, which has only a handful of employees, plus when you go there to shop, it takes a long time to get out of the parking lot and get back on Federal Street.
A handful of people stopped a Walmart and today I see more houses for sale than ever before, due to higher taxes that I said would happen because of the loss of Walmart.
Traffic was one of the sticking points in the Walmart disaster, and you’re telling me Federal Street is better?
I was a supporter of Walmart, and I still am, but if we can’t get a Walmart, then let’s get a Market Basket to come to town. These are nice, clean stores and have lower pricing than anyone around.
My wife and I took a ride to Athol just to try this store out and we were amazed at what we saw. Because of competition, however, Stop & Shop has cut prices drastically and that is good for all of us.
With Greenfield and other cities becoming melting pots for refugees and flood victims, where are the jobs?
Are these people going to sit on their laurels and let us taxpayers carry the load?
When I look at all the houses up for sale, and then on top of that no jobs in the job section, it all means disaster for Greenfield’s taxpayers plus all of us in Franklin County.
