Desiree Crawford and Da-Sha Wilson combined for 28 points and sixth-seeded Renaissance School dispatched 11th-seeded Franklin County Technical School, 58-27, in Western Massachusetts Division IV Girls’ Basketball Tournament first-round action Tuesday night in Springfield.

The Phoenix opened the game on a 22-2 run and never looked back. Crawford finished with 15 points, while Wilson netted 13. Antonaya McMillan added 11, and Jakiya Wearing netted 9 points.

Jordan Hurlbert paced the Eagles (14-8) with 11 points, and Amber Merritt chipped in 6. Isabelle Duga added 5 points.

“I’m very proud of this young group of girls,” Franklin Tech coach Sean Knightly said. “They improved a lot over the season and they gained a lot of experience in the postseason. I hope they can learn a lot from this as they move forward.”
