GREENFIELD — Paramedics and firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate a driver from her car after a two-car crash on Mohawk Trail (Route 2).
Greenfield Police, State Police, Franklin County EMS and fire personnel responded to the crash across from Planet Gas around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. According to Greenfield Fire Lt. Andrew Eisch, a Jeep and Honda Civic were involved.
The Jeep was quickly towed from the scene so officials could access the trapped female driver of the Civic, according to Eisch.
Eisch said it took about 20 minutes to remove the driver, but she was talking and alert as she was put on a stretcher and into an ambulance. Fire personnel removed both doors from the driver’s side of the car and tore away panels to get to the driver.
Only the driver of the Civic was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. Eisch believes each car only had one occupant.
