GREENFIELD — A project proposed by City Council President Karen “Rudy” Renaud to study economic development in Greenfield will be discussed further by the Economic Development Committee.

The next meeting of the board will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at the library, 402 Main St., in the LeVanway Meeting Room.

The hope is to find out, “What are the hiccups in the process?” and barriers small-business owners face on the way to opening in Greenfield, Renaud said at a recent Committee Chairs meeting.

During the recent split-tax debate, some residents testified that Greenfield is a tough place to be a small business owner. This was also a topic of discussion during November’s local elections.

Renaud wants to give people in Greenfield an opportunity to elaborate on these concerns and see what the city can do to potentially smooth out the process.
