Fiction writer Joseph Scapellato will be stopping by Amherst Books this week to read from some of his published works,
Scapellato is the author of “Big Lonesome,” a story collection, and the forthcoming novel, “The Made-Up Man.” In a book review by The New York Times for “Big Lonesome,” the author was priased for: “Vividly recasting many Western archetypes … Scapellato’s inventive, hallucinatory prose dazzles.” His work has appeared in North American Review, Kenyon Review Online, Post Road, and other publications, and has been anthologized in Harper Perennial’s “Forty Stories, Gigantic Books’ Gigantic Worlds: An Anthology of Science Flash Fiction.”
Catch him at Amherst Books, 8 Main St. in Amherst, this Tuesday read from his work on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Amherst College Creative Writing Center, is free and open to the public and will be followed by refreshments.
