Here are this week’s bird sightings from the Voice of Audubon for western Massachusetts:
The barnacle goose, cackling goose, four snow geese and a white-fronted goose are still being seen in Westfield.
White-winged scoters and black scoters have been seen at the southern end of the Quabbin Reservoir.
A red-headed woodpecker continues to be reported at Arcadia Sanctuary in Northampton.
Rough-legged hawks were seen in Agawam, Sheffield, and Gill.
A Lapland longspur was found in Hadley.
A snowy owl and a short-eared owl were reported in Northampton and another snowy owl was found in Greenfield.
A brant, a cackling goose, and a horned grebe were seen in Agawam.
Iceland gulls and a lesser black-backed gull continue to be reported in Turners Falls, and a Baltimore oriole is still coming to a feeder in Sunderland.
