CONWAY — Conway School of Landscape Design has sold its 332 South Deerfield Road building.
According to property transfers in the county, the building was sold to David Jonathan Ross and Emily Katherine Richardson of South Deerfield for $455,000. Ross, a graphic artist and typeface designer, said the building will be used as a home and a studio.
“Selling the Conway campus was the best strategic decision for the school, and the sale does set us up to design a greener and more centrally located campus,” a press statement from the now Easthampton-based school says.
Last year, Conway School of Landscape Design shut down a majority of its operations in Conway, its namesake, moving to a mill building in Easthampton. The school is leasing space there.
“Saying goodbye to the (Conway) property was difficult for all. We are grateful for our many years in the town of Conway and would like to thank all those who have supported us along the way,” the statement notes.
Moving was influenced, in part, by a changing environmental and technological landscape, and because students had difficulty commuting to the school’s rural property on South Deerfield Road.
