Another big Lexi Mazza offensive performance found the Mohawk Trail Regional High School standout recording 15 kills, but her visiting Warriors were unable to steal a road win as South Hadley High School claimed a 25-21, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17 independent volleyball victory Wednesday.

Mazza added five digs, one block and one ace for Mohawk (8-6), while Kylie Lowell had five kills, six digs and three aces. Setter Ashley Reynolds dished out 16 assists and added four kills, four aces and four digs, while Gabby Shean (three kills, five digs), Jordan Rice (five digs) and Julia Massey (five digs) all contributed in the loss.

Mohawk hosts Chicopee High School on Friday.

Chicopee 3, Turners 1 — Despite 20 assists from setter Sienna Dillensneider, visiting Turners Falls High School dropped just its second match of the season Wednesday night.

The Powertown was edged by host Chicopee High School, 25-21, 26-24, 13-25, 25-23, in an independent contest in Chicopee.

Dillensneider also had three aces to go with one kill and one dig for Turners (14-2), while Dabney Rollins was the team’s top offensive performer with 10 kills and an ace.

The road doesn’t get any easier, as Turners hosts a very good Lenox Memorial High School team tonight at 5:30 p.m.

Belchertown 3, Athol 0 — A solid third set saw visiting Athol High School threaten to prolong the match, but host Belchertown High School held on for a 25-16, 25-16, 26-24 sweep in an independent match Wednesday in Belchertown.

Hannah Lajoie totaled six kills to go with three aces and three digs for Athol (8-8), while Abbe Roberts added five kills, two digs, one ace and an assist. Julia Ramos finished the night with 12 assists, four kills, one ace and two digs.

Next up for the Red Raiders is a home match Friday against Easthampton High School.

Sabis 3, Greenfield 0 — Setter Lexxie Rowell totaled 10 assists, but visiting Greenfield High School dropped a 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 decision to Sabis International Charter School in an independent girls’ volleyball match Wednesday in Springfield.

Rowell also put down three aces for Greenfield (1-12), while Caity Moore also contributed with five assists on the night. Casey Noyes registered 11 digs and one kill, while teammate Kelsey Richardson finished with three aces and two kills.

Holyoke 3, FC Tech 0 — On the road at Holyoke High School, the Franklin County Technical School girls’ volleyball team was unable to pick up a much-needed win as the regular-season quickly comes to an end.

The visiting Eagles dropped a 25-15, 25-12, 25-17 decision to the Purple Knights, falling to 7-9 overall with just four matches remaining. To qualify for the WMass Div. III Tournament, FC Tech needs to win three of its final four matches.

Jocelyn Holloway paced the defensive effort for FC Tech with nine digs, and she added three kills, two aces and an assist. Reagan Fiske (five digs, one ace, one assist) and Summer Gaudreau (two aces, three kills, two assists, three digs, one block) were also key contributors.

The Eagles will look to bounce back today, when they host Ware High School.
