Prospect Street in Orange is a small, short, cramped street with a lot of onlookers for the TV show filming, and others who use it as a cut through. We have approximately 30 kids on the street who live here, then any number of them playing ball, visiting from adjacent streets, riding bikes with parents watching them, looking out for cars in the after-school times.

As a concerned parent myself, I have noticed that far too many people drive far too fast on this street. I’d love to report it to someone, but there is no speed limit sign on the road here at all, so how can I report it accurately? We need at least one-speed limit sign.

Plus, I noticed back by the Town Hall there isn’t anything indicating that there is a crosswalk there. We desperately need some speed bumps and or signs to inform the drivers of the need to drive slower. Our children and their safety is our highest priority on this street. A neighbor before my house has a “drive like your kids live here” sign in her yard and I have a similar one in mine. It has zero effect.

We parents, friends, and neighbors are deeply disturbed by the lack of respect the drivers are giving to children trying to get to the side of the roadway and out of their path. I am worried that someone’s loved one is going to be hurt and feel that this needs to be taken very seriously in a timely manner.
