Sienna Dillensneider dished out 15 assists as visiting Turners Falls High School passed another Northern Division test Wednesday night.

The Powertown remained undefeated atop the Northern standings with a 25-23, 25-12, 28-26 victory over feisty Mohawk Trail Regional High School in girls’ volleyball action in Buckland.

Dillensneider notched five aces and added a pair of digs for Turners (6-0, 4-0), while Taylor Murphy paced the offense with seven kills. Emma Miner had three aces, two kills and an assist in the win, while Adrianna DiMaio paced the defensive effort with four digs.

Ashley Reynolds registered 16 assists in the loss for Mohawk (2-3, 1-1). Lexi Mazza totaled five kills, two aces, seven digs and two blocks, while Gabby Shean smacked five kills. Jordan Rice had eight digs to power the defense, while Julia Massey (three kills, six digs) and Kylie Lowell (five digs, two kills, two aces) also contributed for the Warriors.

Both teams are back in action Friday at 5 as Turners hosts rival Greenfield High School and Mohawk hosts Athol High School.

Athol 3, Pioneer 1 — Host Athol High School shook off a slow start and won the final three sets to capture a much-needed 18-25, 25-7, 25-14, 25-21 victory over Pioneer Valley Regional School in a Northern Division girls’ volleyball match Wednesday evening at Mallet Gymnasium.

Pioneer (1-5, 1-3) stormed out to a 15-2 lead in the opening set and held on for a 25-18 win before Athol (2-4, 1-2) rebounded. The Red Raiders turned the tides with a lopsided second-set win, then finished the deal over the final two frames.

“We got off to a really slow start but settled into the match and from the second game on. It was kind of our game,” Athol coach Nick Savoie offered.

Julia Ramos had seven kills, 12 aces and six assists in the win for Athol. Paige Truehart totaled a team-high eight kills to go with five digs and a pair of aces, while Hannah Lajoie tossed in seven aces and two kills.

Pioneer’s Kiana McGraw posted a match-high 12 aces and six blocks to go with three kills, while teammate Avery Johnson had 11 digs and three kills.

FC Tech 3, Duggan 0 — Raegan Fiske and Jocelyn Holloway combined for 19 aces, and host Franklin County Technical School made it three straight wins with a convincing 25-9, 25-13, 25-8 win over Duggan Academy in independent girls’ volleyball action Wednesday in Turners Falls.

Fiske led the Eagles (3-3) with 11 aces, two kills and a block, while Holloway tossed in eight aces, two assists and a kill. Leah Wozniak paced the serving attack with three aces for FC Tech, which next travels to Mahar Regional School Tuesday.

Boys’ soccer

FC Tech 5, Mohawk 0 — Jared Vielmetti-Perusse scored two goals and Tony Barilone added a goal and an assist to lift visiting Franklin County Technical School to a convincing 5-0 win over Mohawk Trail Regional High School in an independent boys’ soccer game Wednesday in Buckland.

FC Tech (2-2-1) stormed out to a 4-0 lead at halftime, and goalkeeper Grayson Funk made five saves to pick up the shutout between the pipes. Jovanni Ruggiano and Reuben Galvez also scored for the Eagles, and Jaden Sadloski added an assist.

“They’re a much-improved team,” lauded Mohawk coach Larry Poirier of FC Tech.

Mohawk hosts Mahar Regional School while FC Tech travels to Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in games scheduled to be played Friday.

Pioneer 3, Sabis 3 — Dana McRae banged home a free kick from 25 yards out as visiting Pioneer Valley Regional School salvaged a 3-3 draw with Sabis International Charter School in a McGrath Division boys’ soccer game Wednesday in Springfield.

Pioneer (3-1-1, 1-1-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Jordan Loughman goal in the 18th minute before Sabis (1-4-1, 1-2-1) scored twice to take a 2-1 advantage. Michael Menard tied the game with a goal just before halftime, and Sabis led 3-2 before McRae scored in the 71st minute to send both teams home with one point.

Loughman and Noah Keith picked up assists for the Panthers, which received seven saves from Ryan Underwood in goal.

Pioneer is right back in action tonight when it hosts Greenfield High School at 6.

Four Rivers 7, Charlemont 2 — After losing twice to Charlemont Academy a year ago, Four Rivers Charter School exacted a bit of revenge Wednesday. The Otters shook off an early 1-0 deficit to capture a 7-2 win on the road in Charlemont in a River Valley Athletic League boys’ soccer game.

Hendrik Pepermans staked Charlemont to a 1-0 lead before Four Rivers (3-0-1) came charging back. Milou Rigollaud, Muiris Lonergan and Evan Leaf scored three consecutive goals to give the visitors a 3-1 halftime advantage.

Lonergan, Rigollaud, Mac Almeida and Sulli Schnoor all scored in the second half in the win, while Charlemont received a goal from Nacho de la Torne late to cut the final to 7-2.

Girls’ soccer

Easthampton 1, Athol 0 — Frances Powers scored the lone goal of the game in the 25th minute, and visiting Easthampton High School edged Athol High School, 1-0, in a Pioneer North girls’ soccer game Wednesday at O’Brien Field in Athol.

Easthampton (3-4, 2-3) held a 6-3 edge in shots on goal, and the Eagles held the Athol offense in check for the majority of the evening.

Athol (2-4, 2-4) goalkeeper Peyton Parker recorded five saves in the tough-luck loss.

Athol hosts Mahar Regional School Monday in a key rivalry game.

Pathfinder 2, FC Tech 1 — Olivia Whittier scored a beautiful goal on a corner kick to tie the game in the 56th minute, but visiting Franklin County Technical School was unable to hold the result Wednesday afternoon.

Host Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School received the eventual game-winning goal from Abby Emery in the 67th minute to hand the Eagles a 2-1 loss in a tightly-contested Tri-County League girls’ soccer game in Thorndike.

“We can’t quite get over the hump but we’re improving every day,” explained FC Tech coach Dan Prasol, whose team fell to 2-4 overall, 1-4 in the TCL. “I’m not unhappy with our performance but for whatever reason, we keep finding ways to shoot ourselves in the foot. The soccer Gods are not smiling on Franklin Tech soccer right now.”

After undefeated Pathfinder (5-0, 5-0) took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a Kylie Lemoine goal, Whittier evened things off a corner kick with the assist given to Katherine Garcia. Emery notched the winner however, with an assist to Hannah Schipano.

The Eagles look to bounce back quickly when they travel to Duggan Academy today at 4.

Golf

Frontier 20½, Pioneer 3½ — Mikey Corduff was the match medalist with a 38, while teammate Rowan Blair was right behind with a round of 39 to lift Frontier Regional School to a convincing 20½-3½ win over Pioneer Valley Regional School in a Suburban West golf match Wednesday at Cherry Hill Golf Course in Amherst.

Corduff took three points in his match at No. 1, edging Pioneer’s Kyle Maynard, who shot a 43. Blair also won his match at No. 2, 3-1, over Pioneer’s Garrett Cote, who shot 50.

Bryan Baumann shot 43 at No. 4 to earn 3½ points for Frontier (4-3, 4-1), while Kalen Evans fired a 44 to snag all four points at No. 3. Porter Clancy had a good day at No. 6, carding a round of 51 to sweep all four points.

Cam Baird broke 50 at No. 4 for Pioneer (0-7, 0-5), shooting 49 to earn ½ point.

Frontier travels to Mahar Regional School Monday for a key Suburban West match.

Hampshire 20½, Mahar 3½ — Garrett Antosz fired a low round of 38 to send Hampshire Regional High School to a 20½-3½ victory over Mahar Regional School in Suburban West golf action Wednesday at Beaver Brook Golf Club in Williamsburg.

The Senators (5-2, 3-1) were paced by Sean Doyle’s round of 47 in the No. 5 spot. Corey Sanderson and Tucker Ninteau each shot 49 for Mahar, while Treyton Pasakinskas carded a round of 50.

Mohawk 15½, Central 8½ — Will Guyette, Andy Robertson and Tristan Keyser-Parker all swept four points in their respective matches, and Mohawk Trail Regional High School picked up a 15½-8½ win over Springfield Central High School in a Bi-County West golf match Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in Springfield.

Guyette was the match medalist thanks to a round of 45 at No. 2, while Robertson shot 56 at No. 3. Keyser-Parker shot 61 at No. 4, while Triston LaCross won 2½ points in the top spot behind a round of 61.

The Warriors (2-2, 2-1) travel to McCann Technical School today for another Bi-County West match.
