Diane O’Connell and Cyndie Stetson were the top finishers Thursday, as the Ashfield Community Golf Club Ladies League played a ‘Throw Out Two Holes’ game and the duo each carded rounds of 35.
O’Connell recorded the fewest putts with 13.
Ashfield Ladies championship
Norma Labelle captured the Ashfield Ladies Pauline Nye/Helen Pease Club Championship with an 8-Up win over Francie Hall. Bev Williams was the consolation winner with a 5-Up win over Connie Szelewicki.
Volleyball
Siobhan Moore served eight aces and had 10 assists to lead Northfield Mount Hermon School to a 25-13, 24-26, 25-20, 25-22 win over Wilbraham & Monson Academy in a girls’ prep volleyball match.
NMH (2-0) also got a big performance by Maya Nayman, who finished with six aces, while Ashlin Spitzer had seven kills.
Don Mayanrd 5-miler
The 23rd annual Don Maynard 5-Mile Road Race and 3-Mile Walk is scheduled will take place Saturday at the Green River Swimming & Recreation Area.
The race is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start. Runners/walkers can register online at www.runreg.com or go to the Maynard website (www.dmmrace.com). Online registration ends Thursday at 5 p.m. Day of race registration begins at 8 a.m.
