George Handschuh’s 36 gave him low-gross honors to pace the field at Tuesday’s Matt’s Men’s League, played at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.
Jon Hall had the low-net score with a 28, while Shawn Hubert was closest to the pin on both No. 7 (8 feet, 11 inches) and No. 9 (1-2).
Hall and Noah Wallace scored the most points on the week with 6½. Hubert and Matt Betsold lead the way after 15 weeks of league play with 30 points, followed by Mark Letourneau and Al Ghiz in second place with 28 points.
Edge Hill Men’s League
Dave Cote and Mark Graves carded the low gross in the A Division with a 39 to pace the field at Tuesday’s Edge Hill Golf Course Men’s League.
Greg Bergeron and Mark Eaton shot the low net with a 33, while Eaton scored the top point quota at plus-7½. Dave Cote was closest to the pin on No. 8 at 10 feet, 6 inches.
In B Division action, Jon Sonntag fired a 41 to take low-gross honors, and he also had the top point quota at plus-10½. Pete Zale’s 29 was the low net, while Jeff Carantit was closest to the pin on No. 8 (16-10).
CCG Food Bank tourney
It was a great turnout by Country Club of Greenfield members, as the club held its annual Food Bank Tournament Tuesday.
Richard Rockstroh, Jim Worden, Richard Krawiec, Jane Plumley and Sally Bernard teamed to take first place with a 62, while the team of Terry Doton, Sally Roberts, Rocky Barbuto, Tom Rogers and Irene Woods won a match of cards to snag the runner-up spot with a 63.
Don Maynard Race
The 23rd annual Don Maynard 5-Mile Road Race and 3-Mile Walk is scheduled for Sept. 16 at the Green River Swimming & Recreation Area.
The race is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. start, and runners/walkers can register online at www.runreg.com or go to the Maynard website (www.dmmrace.com).
