Luis Melendez and Scott Curtis both went a perfect 4-for-4, helping Beck’s Auto to a 15-12 win over Mike’s Bears in the opening round of the double-elimination Greenfield Co-Rec Adult League A Division bracket softball playoffs Wednesday night at Hillside Park.
Melendez drove in four runs and smacked a pair of doubles for second-seeded Beck’s, while Curtis had a double and two RBI. Jeff Guy was 3-for-5 with two doubles and Sunny Lucas had a home run and a double to help the offensive effort.
Trevor Mankowski powered seventh-seeded Mike’s Bears with four hits (three doubles and a triple) to go with four RBI. Rich Burgh registered two hits for his team in the loss.
• In B Division action, Brian Ginnity powered two home runs and a triple and drove in four runs as third-seeded Hubie’s Tavern thumped No. 6 Hot L, 21-6, in five innings at Greenfield Middle School.
Dustin Olson hit a grand slam and finished with five RBI for Hubie’s, while Evan Rice and Steph Wilkes had three hits apiece.
Kyle Conway and Jake Conway each finished with two hits for Hot L.
• Elsewhere, a complete team effort led the Spirit Shoppe to a dominant 19-2 win over Paddy’s Pub in opening-round action at Green River Park.
Second-seeded Spirit Shoppe advanced to play Hubie’s in the next round, set for Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at Greenfield Middle School.
Barry De Jasu and Mike Cole paced Paddy’s Pub with two hits each. Paddy’s Pub and Hot L will play in an elimination game on Friday.
Elks League
Bob Call and Greg Valkowski are in first place with 73½ points as the Greenfield Elks League continued play Wednesday at the Country Club of Greenfield.
Sharon Rawson and Dick Golosh are right behind with 73 points, as the league has one week remaining in regular-season play.
Dave McDonald was closest to the pin on No. 2 at 22 feet, 6 inches.
Timmons League
Harry Hyams and Jesse Putnam shot 37 to take low-gross honors Wednesday during Timmons League action at Northfield Golf Course.
Brad Kerr and Martin Baron were the low-net winners with a 26, while match medalist was Pat Varner with a 38. Steve Lanciani was right behind with a 39.
Bill Noyes was closest to the pin on No. 6 (13-9). Bob Bateman was closest on No. 7 (7-7).
K of C League
John Plotkin and Steve Russo led the way at Wednesday’s Knights of Columbus League at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls, as both golfers finished with plus-5 point quotas.
Bill Brown was next with a plus-4 quota, while Jack Cominoli and Kent McGahan were plus-3.
Darren Lenois was closest to the pin on No. 7 (4-8), with Al Savinski closest on No. 9 (19-1).
Thomas Memorial Ladies
Robin Hartnett, Barb Laczynski and Kate Dwyer shot 35 to earn the top spot at the Pot-Luck Scramble in the Thomas Memorial Ladies League Wednesday.
Dorothy Adams, Anne Corrinet, Nancy Browning and Karen Hopkins shot 37, while Jane Smith, Chante Jillson and Deb Collins as well as Marilyn Kostanski, Deb Puchalski, Mary Ellen Fydenkevez and Hilda Worden all fired 38,

DRIVE Boys’ Hoops
David Casey poured in 25 points, and Ryan Cote joined him in double figures with 11 points to help Greenfield to a tight 60-58 victory over Sunderland in a DRIVE Boys’ Middle School basketball game on Tuesday at Indoor Action in Greenfield.
Joe Thomson led Sunderland with 21 points.
• Elsewhere, Lucas Stone (11 points) and Jared Hubbard (10) scored in double figures for Hadley in its convincing 57-25 win over Deerfield.
Dan Fellows was Deerfield’s high-scorer with eight points.
Boys’ JV
Collin Boudreau dropped 24 points, and Brett Robinson was a solid No. 2 scorer with 14 as Frontier Blue knocked off Noho, 59-43, in DRIVE Boys’ JV action on Tuesday.
Ken Morrison was Noho’s top-scorer with 11 points.
• Elsewhere, Boudreau scored 11 points but Frontier Red was defeated by Monadnock, 47-25.
Monadnock’s Austin Jenks paced his squad with 11 points.
• In other action, Belchertown’s Jordan Lanoue scored 19 points in his tema’s 52-31 win over Hadley.
