For the second straight day, Teddy Bear Pools was unable to match a stalwart St. Joseph’s team on Sunday.

The Poolmen saw their season come to an end with a 10-0 loss in five innings in Game 2 of their best-of-three semifinals series in Tri-County League men’s amateur baseball play at Frontier Regional School’s G.T. Valiton Field in South Deerfield.

The loss matched Saturday night’s 10-0 loss, when St. Joe’s held serve at home in Thorndike to set the tone in the series. Teddy Bear finished with a final record of 13-13, advancing to the semifinals after a 2-1 series’ win over Longmeadow Valley Warriors in the quarterfinals.

St. Joseph’s advanced to play in the championship series against the winner of the PeoplesBank and Easthampton Savings Bank semifinal series. ESB battled back with a 3-1 win on Sunday to force a decisive Game 3 tonight at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke (7 p.m.). The championship is slated to begin on Wednesday night.

Greenfield 7U

In a Sunday slugfest to determine the championship, the Greenfield 7U All-Star baseball team scored 20 runs and held off Easthampton for a 20-13 victory to capture the Amherst 7U Coach-Pitch Tournament.

Greenfield beat Amherst, 17-6, and then Easthampton, 17-8, on Saturday to put the team into the title tilt with a rematch against Easthampton.

Nico Siano helped pace the Greenfield offense with 10 hits over the weekend, including two doubles. Chase Zraunig also had 10 hits for Greenfield, and he smacked two triples and a double.

Cody Yetter totaled eight hits (three doubles), while Wayde Bardwell (eight hits), Nick Prasol (seven hits, triple), Connor Guertin (seven hits), Grayson Thomas (seven hits), Sam Bucala (six hits, two doubles) and Desmond Drake (six hits, two doubles) all posted huge offensive weekends.

Hilltown Mickey Mantle

Joel Peabody struck out two and allowed just two runs in six innings, but Mohawk Hilltown Hardwood Flooring saw its summer season come to an end on Saturday with a 2-0 loss to Northampton in the semifinals of the Western Massachusetts Mickey Mantle Tournament held at Deerfield Academy’s Headmaster’s Field.

Peabody walked four in six innings of work, but the Mohawk offense was held in check in the semifinal defeat that saw its strong summer campaign come to an end after the team won West County’s first-ever division title.

Kyle Devlin threw out a pair of would-be base-stealers for Mohawk, while Cody Letourneau helped pace the offense with a double and three walks. Jacob Christi was 2-for-3 with a walk, while Sam Bobala also had two hits in the loss.

Northampton advanced to play Granby in the championship game of the combined Pioneer Valley Youth Baseball League and John L. Sullivan League tournament.
