I was stunned to find in your coverage of the Green River Festival no mention of, or even a nod to, the large white tent which housed The Art Garden where “Free Art Making for All Ages” went on all day long, both days of the festival.
Despite your one line mentioning that there was a “variety of things to do beyond the music,” you gave 9 plus inches of column space only to the cooling tent, and none to a place where hundreds of adults and children:
decorated fish, bird, butterflies, and hot air balloons
created crowns, ribbon sticks, and noise sticks
wrote impromptu “river poetry”
drew self portraits on mirrors
drew portraits of friends on, as seen through, glass
enjoyed the use of paint, crayons, markers, pastels, chalks, glitter, ribbons and much more, all absolutely free of charge, thanks to the warm, welcoming and encouraging staff and volunteers of The Art Garden (located in Shelburne Falls).
How could your reporters/photographers fail to cover this incredibly wonderful contribution to the Green River Festival?
