Community Band ends its season Friday

ORANGE — The Orange Community Band will play the final concert of the 2017 summer Friday Night Series, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 28, on the bandstand in Butterfield Park.

It has been dubbed “Memory Night” and is sponsored by Witty’s Funeral Home. People can have loved ones’ names announced for a donation to the band.

Memory Night selections will include marches, pop and show tunes, and some of the new music purchased this spring, including “Hallelujah” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Music from “Grease” and John Lennon will be contrasted with some of the oldest selections in the band library, “The Rosary” and “Desert Song.” Every concert begins with “The Star Spangled Banner,” and a number of marches will supplement the program.

The Band Auxiliary will offer soda, popcorn, baked goods and Dean’s Beans Organic Coffee for sale, with proceeds going to the band music fund and scholarship program. Low Brass and Percussion will bake for this concert.

Casting company needs period cars

ORANGE — Slate Casting, the Boston-based casting company working on an upcoming Hulu series planned for Orange, is in search for certain “period cars.”

The company is interested in vehicles from the 1950s through the 1990s. Anyone with a car that fits the bill can send a photo of the vehicle and contact information to slatecastingcars@gmail.com.

Slate Casting asks that everyone make note of whether the car is drivable.
