DEERFIELD — The driver of a moped sustained minor scrapes after being rear-ended by a car Wednesday at the corner of Greenfield and River roads.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. The moped driver was treated by South County EMS and drove home, according to Deerfield Police.

At the scene, local police could be seen helping the driver from the moped parked on the side of the busy road, facing south. Police say the driver of the car was given a citation.

Fire crews were also called, along with Greenfield Police Department.

“Mopeds have become very poplar in our area. They are a great way to reduce your carbon footprint as a commuter. When operating your motor vehicles please keep an eye out for mopeds,” Deerfield Police wrote on Facebook.
