PHILLIPSTON — You can look forward to spending your Friday night hopping and bopping to the “Crocodile Rock.”

The North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau has planned its first Summer Sundial event at Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Chamber Executive Director Mark Wright said the festivities will feature the start of a “Legends of Music” series at all Sundial events and Wakefield resident Bill Connors will offer his impersonation of Elton John.

Connors has more than 15 years of experience and more than 3,000 performances under this flamboyant belt. He has also appeared on “America’s Got Talent” and “Legends in Concert,” a live tribute artist production.

According to his account on GigSalad.com, a website with thousands of profiles of professionals offering entertainment and other services for parties and celebrations, Connors recreates every nuance and mannerism of Captain Fantastic.

Wright said Connors is “quite prolific and out there getting stuff done.” He said the Worcester Folk Orchestra will perform to start the event. The “Legends of Music” series, Wright said, will present a musical impersonator every year.

He said the Summer Sundial event was the idea of the chamber’s summer event committee. The chamber used to hold an early summer golf tournament but found it difficult to compete with other tournaments and meet attendance needs. He said there was nothing slated for late July or early August and a musical event seemed to fit the bill. Wright said a member of the summer event committee reached out to a talent agency, who recommended Connors.

Tickets are $25 apiece and can be purchased at northquabbinchamber.com or at the Chamber’s office at 80 Freedom St. in Athol.

“It will be a casual, fun evening,” Wright said. “It’s going to be one of those things where people can get good, quality entertainment and have a couple of beers and good barbecue close to home.”

The event will include a chicken and rib barbecue by All American Catering, and the Red Apple Farm is providing a cash bar offering a variety of beer and wine. There will also be lawn games and raffle tickets will be available for five major prizes — a pair of Boston Bruins tickets compliments of TD Bank Worcester, a YETI premium cooler from Hamshaw Lumber, a Pabst Blue Ribbon mini-fridge filled with PBR from Stan’s Liquors, a full car-detailing gift certificate from the House of Wax in Orange, and a Pete’s Tire Barn gift certificate. The Chamber will raffle off a book of Massachusetts State Lottery tickets.

The event will be held rain or shine.
